Visions Announces Screenings at the 2013 Carolina Film & Video Festival

This year the Visions Film Festival & Conference is proud to announce its partnership with the Carolina Film & Video Festival (CFVF) in celebrating, promoting, and connecting today’s undergraduate filmmakers and film scholars at the 2013 CFVF event.
Visions will be hosting a screening block and panel discussion on CFVF’s opening night, Wednesday, February 20, 2013, beginning at 5:00 PM. The lineup features award-winning undergraduate short films featured in the 2012 Visions Film Festival & Conference. After the screening, Visions staff members will lead a panel discussion to discuss the films and answer questions about the upcoming 2013 Visions Film Festival & Conference.

The Carolina Film & Video Festival is the longest-running student-operated film festival in North Carolina. CFVF’s continued dedication to the community and to giving a voice to independent filmmakers makes the festival the perfect platform for sharing these powerful films from rising filmmakers. CFVF will be held from Wednesday, February 20 through Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Elliot University Center on the University of North Carolina at Greensboro campus. This is the first year to include Visions as part of the event.
The third annual Visions Film Festival & Conference is scheduled for April 5th, 2013. Visions is excited to be welcomed by a festival that has seen success for over thirty years and looks forward to working with CFVF in years to come.
The schedule for the Visions screening block is as follows:
5:00 PM – 5:15 PM  Reception
5:15 PM – 6:45 PM  Brief Introduction and Film Screenings, followed by a Q&A panel
The Elect
Dir. Dan Moore & Erin Zacek (Notre Dame)
The Elect is a short cinéma verité-style documentary that follows members of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church as they carry out their everyday lives.
Coup Sauvage
Dir. Stéphane Moukarzel (L’Institut national de l’image et du son)
After a traumatic accident, a mother’s grief alters her perception of her surroundings in this cerebral film.
Hindsight
Dir. Sean Hanley (Emerson College)
Hindsight is a poetic documentary portrait of the seasonal rituals of a small town in New England.  Shot over the course of one year, the film acts as a visual and aural eulogy for the place the filmmaker once called home.
The Birds Upstairs
Dir. Chris Jarvis (NYU)
Frustrated attempts to conceive children overwhelm the lives of an aristocratic, avian couple in the early nineteenth century.
Incest! The Musical
Dir. Grant Reed (Chapman University)
Alex is class president. Katie is valedictorian. They’re perfect for each other. They’re also twin brother and sister. This year’s prom is going to be interesting…
The Carolina Film & Video Festival will also feature blocks of documentary and experimental films, foreign narratives, dramatic shorts, comedic shorts, and feature-length narrative films. Other festivities include refreshments, filmmaker Q&As, and raffle drawings.
