Online Registration for the 1Hour/1Take Video Race Is Now Open!

Registration for students is open February 12 to March 19. General public registration opens February 26.

The Visions Film Festival & Conference is pleased to announce that online pre-registration for the second annual 1Hour/1Take Video Race is now open. The upcoming international undergraduate festival and conference is scheduled to take place April 5, 2013. This is the second year to include the video race as part of the festival.

During the 1Hour/1Take Video Race, small crews will have one hour to create a minute-long video shot as one long take. Crews will be given a prop or prompt upon check-in. Videos to make it past the finish line are then screened to festival audiences and are eligible to compete for an Audience Choice award (to be presented at the festival after party) and the accompanying bragging rights. Last year’s inaugural video race presented racers with a well-met challenge for creative muscle-flexing. The one-take constraint of the race means participants must collaborate quickly and effectively with their teams to plan, coordinate, and choreograph their video.

One of the main functions of the 1Hour/1Take Video Race is to connect national and international festival talent to the greater community. Crews of five are made up of festival-featured student filmmakers and presenters, registered students, and participating festival attendees. “It’s a great way to connect attending filmmakers and presenters to Wilmington and UNCW students,” says Visions staff member, Hamilton Hudson. “Our festival is about being involved and sharing ideas. The video race gives all festival-goers a chance to get interactive—to talk, play, and celebrate one another.”

No film experience? No problem. The 1Hour/1Take Video Race is for anyone interested in contributing to a fun and creative activity on the day of the festival, regardless of their background or level of experience.

Registration is open to all undergraduate and high school students starting February 12, 2013. Registration opens to the general public on February 26, 2013. Registering for the race is entirely free online through the festival’s website, and all necessary equipment will be provided by the festival. Pre-registration is encouraged, though limited registration is also available on the day of the event.
